Job Description

Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat Associates, PA (CEENTA), the region’s premier eye, ear, nose and throat care provider for adults and pediatric patients for more than 90 years is looking to add to their team. We are currently looking for a Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Assistant with strong ophthalmic imaging experience. The position is full-time located in our South Park (Charlotte NC) office but may travel when necessary to cover patient needs.

Summary of the position: 

 

Provide diagnostic ophthalmic test/assessment procedures to ensure quality care to the patients and support for the physicians by providing medical treatment and medical care services to patients by performing duties within the scope of the policy and procedures defined by Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat Associates.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Perform assessments using equipment to provide accurate results
  • Educate patient on testing procedure
  • Follow appropriate research protocols (when appropriate)
  • Document patient encounters properly in accordance to CEENTA  compliance guidelines in electronic medical record software in a timely manner
  • Provide educational and triage information to patient and their families (when appropriate)
  • Maintain OSHA standards to ensure sterilized and safe environment
  • Maintain CEENTA Compliance standards in regards to patient demographics and medical information

 

Qualifications:

Individuals must have performed necessary tasks to meet or exceed expectation of Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat Associates. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or Ophthalmic Technician training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous working experience in a multiple provider clinical setting strongly preferred. Fluorescein photography experience a plus.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Customer Service and organizational skills, data entry, written and verbal communication skills, maintain positive team oriented attitude with an attention to details.

 

Ability to follow procedures and processes in accordance to CEENTA standards utilizing: (may vary by specialty and/ or physician)

             

  • Humphrey Visual Field machine(standard automated perimetry)
  • Goldman Visual Field  (manual perimetry)
  • A- Scan
  • OCT immersion and non immersion (scan retina, macula, optic disc)
  • Topography measurements (tms-4 or pentacam)
  • Fundus camera
  • Fundus fluorescein angiography

 

 

Computer software network applications, practice management software and applicable electronic medical record software.

 

Language/Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and appropriate document patient encounter within scope of responsibility. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Certificates and License:

Valid and active certificate from JCAHPO as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, Certified Ophthalmic Technician
